Abhishek Bachchan is currently enjoying the release of his shoot Jeet Sarkar’s film ‘I Want to Talk’. His physical transformation in the slice-of-life film took everyone by surprise. Recently, the actor revealed what inspired him to flaunt his potbellied avatar even though he didn’t flaunt his abs in Dhoom.
During a recent interaction with Galata Plus, Abhishek Bachchan admitted that actor’s vanity is a big part of cinema, but added that it was the reason why Shoojit Sircar chose him for this role. Citing examples of his previous films like Guru, Big Bull and Bob Biswas, he said that he was comfortable shedding that pride where he had a big belly.
Abhishek shed his hesitation and expressed his views that if someone sees this role, then why not? He also remembers that when Shoojit Sircar offered him Potbelly he told him that he wanted Potbelly for the film and he immediately agreed.
The I Want to Talk actor said that he was confident in doing the role because he felt that the character required it, and he was sure that Sarkar would play it aesthetically and in a special way. She further added that she had shown her stomach in I Want to Talk and Guru, but not in Dhoom.
“The logic was that the character, ACP Jai Dixit, is a tough guy; He is not going to walk around shirtless. He is not that man. Whatever happens, he’ll have a vest. She doesn’t need to show off her body to show her strength. This was my thinking. Sometimes people get it, sometimes people don’t. But I need to get it because I need to paint it,” he said.
Bachchan also cited a scene from the film I Want to Talk where he was in underwear and Sarkar asked if he was comfortable doing so. He said that it was clear that even at home, one would usually wear underwear or a bathing suit and he enjoyed portraying the character and the situation.
Directed by Shoojit Sircar, I Want to Talk was released in theaters on November 22, 2024. The film also stars Pearle De, Ahilya Bambru, Jayant Kripalani, Christine Goddard and Johnny Lever in lead roles. The film is currently running in theatres.
