It is not uncommon in Bollywood to make a sequel or spin-off of a film if it hits the box office. However, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is a perfectionist and believes that he approves a script only if it really connects with him. So, when director Abbas Tyrewala came up with the idea of a sequel to Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Aamir rejected it saying it is the ‘stupidest thing’.

Speaking to YouTuber Cyrus Broacha, director Abbas Tyrewala revealed how he shared the idea of a sequel to Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na with producer Aamir Khan and said, “I don’t know if I am allowed to say this or not. Mr Aamir Khan is very sensitive about what should and shouldn’t be said, but soon after Jaane Tu, I got the idea of a sequel.”

The filmmaker laughed and said, “I wasn’t even sure if I was joking or not. I took it to Khan sahab and I told him that the film starts with Jai and Aditi living separately. They have separated and Jai has an affair with Meghna. Aamir said ‘I don’t care who makes the sequel of Jaane Tu, you can never make it.’ He said that was the stupidest thing.”

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na originally featured Imran Khan, Genelia D’Souza, Ratna Pathak Shah, Naseeruddin Shah in pivotal roles. Sohail and Arbaaz Khan appeared in cameo roles.
