After Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan, his son Junaid Khan recently shared his thoughts on his parents’ divorce when he was young. He revealed that they separated when he was eight years old but he never made her feel anything and was always there for him and his sister. Also, he shared that he first saw him fighting when he was 19, and not before that. They admitted that their decision to separate was mature and it never had a negative impact on their parenting.
In a new interview with Vicky Lalwani, Junaid Khan shared that he grew up living with his mother as his parents separated when he was eight years old. But they never let him realize it. She believes that it was the right decision for them as they were both happy with it and had a good childhood.
Khan told, “They never let us realize it. I never saw them fight till I was 19. When it came to us (Junaid and his sister Ira Khan), they were a unit. So, I think That they did good. Two good people are not always good together and this way, both parents were happy.” For those unaware, Aamir and his first wife Reena Dutta separated in 2002 after 16 years of marriage.
The actor said that despite the separation, his family has remained closely connected over the years, and they all ensure that they meet often, even after Ira Khan’s marriage to Nupur Shikhare.
Junaid revealed that they all live within a radius of 100 meters and are dedicated to meeting each other every Tuesday morning to have tea together, which has become a tradition over time.
In his previous interviews, Aamir Khan had admitted that he was not always able to be with his family and children as he was busy with work. But Junaid told that he never felt the lack of anything because whenever he needed, the actor was there.
She joked, “Dad was there. It’s not that he was completely absent. In fact, sometimes I felt like saying, ‘It’s okay, you don’t have to come.’
However, he acknowledged that his father has evolved and become more involved in the daily events of his child’s life. Khan shared that as the PK actor is getting older, he intends to spend more time with him and his family and that is what he loves the most.
On the work front, Junaid Khan made his acting debut with Maharaj in 2024 and won critical praise for his performance. The actor is now all set to share the screen with Khushi Kapoor in Loveyapaa, and the first song has already created a stir among fans. Moroz, he will also be seen in another upcoming project with actress Sai Pallavi later this year.
