Ahead of Aamir Khan’s 60th birthday on March 14, a special film festival was launched by PVR Inox today, Aamir Khan: Cinema’s Jadugar was launched, in which mythological lyricist Javed Akhtar also participated. In the event, the two veterans shared their two cents on the challenges suffering from the Hindi film industry and the lessons from southern cinema.
During media conversation, Aamir Khan highlighted the difference between the approach to filmmaking in both Bollywood and South Udyog.
He said, “We are not focusing on broad strokes like anger, love and revenge. We should make films on firm belief (eg South). South films are those that we used to call single-screen films-very mass, very implicated. Perhaps Bollywood multiplexes are focusing more.”
He further addressed the status of the Hindi film industry and noted that consumers are urged to watch the film on the silver screen. However, if they do not enter the cinema hall, they are promised that it will be brought to them on the OTT platform within eight weeks, and it has already paid for its membership as they are very free cost. He said that he does not know how to sell products twice.
“Earlier, I used to watch movies because I had no choice. Now, it depends on a fancy for films. So we have killed our own business model, ”Khan said. Meanwhile, Javed Akhtar, who was sitting next to him, emphasized the requirement of a long gap of at least three to four months between dramatic and streaming release.
Despite these concerns, both the legendary remained optimistic about the revival of the industry. Khan said that this is a cycle where someone learns from his mistakes. Agreed on his point, Akhar said, “We are early society Jai Toh Ach. Nahi Toh Humari Cycle Hi Bik Jaegi (the sooner we understand it is better. Otherwise, we have to sell our bicycle too). ,
In addition, the legendary lyricist was asked about the high-ticketing prices of multiplex compared to single-screen theaters that are still present in the south. For this, Akhtar highlighted comfortable facilities provided in multiplexes, which requires someone to pay. He mentioned that ever since someone can bear it, they pay for it.
