Aamir Khan married Gauri at the age of 60 after saying that he would not do so. His friend reveals why
Amin Haji said that Aamir Khan’s public hesitation about marriage reflects the state of his relationship with Gauri Spratt. She said the need to balance the relationship with caring for her son was at the center of her final decision.
Aamir Khan once said that marrying again at the age of 60 might not suit him. Yet, more than a year later, the actor married partner Gauri Spratt in a private ceremony. Now, his close friends and rent Co-star Amin Haji has shared why he thinks Aamir ultimately changed his mind.

Amin said, “This is my personal opinion, but I think sometimes you want something without even saying it out loud.”
He said that Aamir never talks about marriage publicly without discussing it with Gauri. According to him, it is possible that when Aamir made this comment, he had not even proposed.
Amin said, “At that time, how could Aamir answer that question? Perhaps he had not even proposed to Gauri yet. Aamir is extremely sensitive to other people’s feelings and would never make such an announcement without talking to the person concerned.”
Describing Aamir as someone who is always conscious of others, Amin recalled an incident from his directorial debut ‘Koi Jaane Na’, in which Aamir played a special role.
Even after agreeing to be a part of the film, Aamir reportedly called him and asked, “Amin, do you have any objection if I play a role in your film?”
Amin said he was stunned by the question and replied that Aamir’s presence would change the direction of his film. According to him, Aamir simply said that he did not want to cross the limits. The actor also invited Amin and his wife Charlotte to his home to discuss the role before signing the role.
Amin also spoke warmly of Gauri, calling her “an angel” and praising her thoughtful approach to their relationship.
He recalled a conversation in which Gauri talked about her desire to balance her new relationship with her responsibilities as a mother. He told her, “I have a son who needs my attention and love. I have to make sure I find the right balance in this new phase of my life.”
To Amin, this explains why the couple may have taken their time before deciding to get married. “It was a very responsible thing to say. She was not only thinking about herself, but she was also thinking about her son and how this new relationship would affect him,” he said.
Amin also revealed that Aamir had introduced Gauri to a small group of close friends about a year before the wedding. He recalled the actor getting emotional while sharing the news.
“About a year ago, Aamir invited some of us over to his house and said, ‘I want to talk to you about something.’ Gauri was not there that day. He told us that he had someone special in his life. Amin recalled, “Aamir is a very emotional person and I remember he had tears of joy in his eyes.”
She said Aamir told his friends, “I think I’ve found my magic,” and he also spoke fondly about Gauri’s young son Quinn.
Aamir introduced Gauri as his partner ahead of his 60th birthday in March 2025, revealing that they had been together for about 18 months after reconnecting years after they first met. At the time, he joked that marrying again at age 60 probably wouldn’t suit him, though he added, “Let’s see.”
The couple eventually got married in a private ceremony on July 5, 2026, in the presence of close friends and family.
Before marrying Gauri, Aamir was married to Reena Dutta, with whom he has two children, Junaid and Ira. She later married film producer Kiran Rao in 2005. The former couple welcomed son Azad via surrogacy before announcing their separation in 2021. Gauri has a son, Quinn, from her previous marriage.
