Sharmila Tagore discussed the recently released films ‘Missing Ladies’ and ‘Animal’ in a podcast with Kapil Sibal. It was here that the veteran actress criticised Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna. However, she also said that no one can ‘rubbish’ the film.

Speaking to Kapil Sibal, who referred to ‘Animal’ and called it a ‘violent film’, Sharmila Tagore said, “Beyond the violence, it had misogyny. But there were a lot of women in the audience who said I want someone to love me like that. Any film that has a lot of flak, you can’t call it rubbish. You have to connect with it, try and understand what’s really happening here.”

She also discussed ‘Missing Ladies’, which managed to overtake ‘Animal’ on Netflix. Talking about both the projects, Sharmila Tagore further said, “It (‘Missing Ladies’) did well in theatres as well because it was within budget, whereas ‘Animal’ spent a lot of money and earned a lot. There is a huge difference (in budget) and it will continue. I don’t think it is going to change in the near future. So, small films will also get their money back, but not in the amount that Ranbir Kapoor or Ranveer Singh bring.”

In the same podcast, Sharmila Tagore also talked about Kareena’s recently released film ‘Crew’ and claimed that its story is ‘absurd’.

Sharmila Tagore was recently seen in ‘Gulmohar’. Now she will be seen in the Bengali film ‘Puratan’ alongside Rituparna Sengupta and Indranil Sengupta.
