India discusses relations on positive syllabus with China: S Jaishankar

After solving the immediate issues of disintegration along the border, India is discussing China’s steps, which according to the Foreign Minister (EAM) to keep the relationship on more forecast and positive course.

The restoration of pilgrims for religious places under China’s control, direct flights between the two countries, and the exchange of journalists are being discussed, he said on Wednesday during a conversation and role in the world in the world’s Chautham House, British think-tank.

Both countries are also looking at the issues in other areas like shared rivers, Em Jaishankar said.

After the mechanism 2020, the ties to deal with the trans-braord rivers stopped meeting due to disruption.

“We are looking at this package (and) people are working with that mandate, working with each other,” he said.

“It’s difficult, you know,” he said.

“Obviously, we would like to see it, soon later. And then we will see what happens.”

The relations between the two giant neighbors were interrupted by China’s works with a line of actual control in 2020, said Eam Jaishankar.

Chinese forces attacked Indian soldiers in the Galvan Valley region and killed about 20 Indian soldiers and several Chinese clashes, causing stressful deadlock and sporadic clashes.

They were the first deadly border confrontation in 45 years and last year the two countries took steps to fix their relations.

“In October 2024, we were able to resolve many essential issues, the pending issues related to it, which we call the disintegration of the soldiers, who were deployed upfronts,” said Em Jaishankar.

Once it was resolved, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping met in Kazan, Russia last year on the occasion of the BRICS summit and met Foreign Minister Wang Yi in South Africa during a BRICS meeting last month.

He said that India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Dowal and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri have visited China.

On October 21 last year, Foreign Secretary Misri said in Delhi that an agreement was signed between India and China after negotiations in the last several weeks and this would be a solution to the issues arising in 2020.
