YouTube may soon get a large scale upgrade to look like Netflix and do more work
YouTube is allegedly planning to bring more membership-based materials. According to the information report, in direct competition with OTT apps such as Netflix and Amazon, YouTube may soon stream exclusive content.

OG Video-Streaming App, YouTube, is reportedly receiving a major upgrade. A recent report published by the information stated that YouTube is planning to tilt towards more membership-based materials. Like its competition, Netflix and Amazon, the video-streaming hub is expected to integrate third-party content, making it premium. But this is not the first time youtube has such plans.
A few years ago, YouTube introduced the primetime channel, a feature that allows users to subscribe to services such as Max and Paramount Plus directly through the platform. While the prime video of Amazon aggressively promotes its ad-on subscription in its interface, YouTube has taken a much more subtle approach, causing users to actively look for these offerings. But since there was no user contact for this subtlety, the company decided to stop it. However, it may change soon.
Now, according to the information, youtube is searching for new ways to generate revenue beyond advertisement, and expanding primetime channels can be an important strategy. The challenge lies in the way these membership options are performed – make them more visible for casual users without overwhelming the browsing experience with constant promotion. This redesign will give the YouTube app more layout for Netflix or Disney Plus, including the shows of the show. Paid subscription services will have a dedicated section under the existing primetime channel label, which will make them more prominent within the interface.

In addition, a notable aspect of this redesign is that YouTube creators will get the ability to organize their content in the show pages dedicated with episodes and weather – something that was not possible before. Since many creators already structure their content in seasonal formats or produce a long -running range, this update can make it much easier to search for videos than current, often cumbersome playlist systems.
“The vision is that when you come to our (TV) app, and you are looking for a show, it will simply go away whether the show is from a primetime channel or the show is from a producer,” said Wilms.
The new design, which aims to improve the search for material in both the services paid and the manufacturer-operated show, is allegedly set to launch in the coming months.
