Director Sudipto Sen, known for ‘The Kerala Story’ and ‘Bastar: The Naxal Story’, is back with his next, ‘Charak’. This time, his film is set in West Bengal, and there are comments on Blind Faith and religious acumen. Sen, in an interview India digital todayExplained the entire concept of the film, a festival in Bengal that requires human sacrifice to allegedly fulfill infertility, and why he decided to change a producer with the film.

We got a special glimpse of the trailer before we discussed their views behind ‘Charak’. The film is set up in a village, where an annual festival is being prepared. However, hell becomes loose because two children disappear, and one of them is found dead later. The trailer moves forward to show the disturbing images of the cult practices, black magic and severed bodies. The theme of his film Dark and Sen called it ‘Truth’.

The director talked about discovering the disappointing experience of his film, and highlighted the need for a clear demarcation between confidence and blind faith.

He said, “As an artist, I am very careful about bringing a story to light without compromising on cinematic values, and ‘Charaka’ is exactly the same. This is a very important story because it shows you the difference , This is a thin line, it is a thin line.

He mentioned that his film lies in Indian culture, especially Bengal: “There is an interesting story to tell because ‘Charaka’ has a lot with Bengali culture, Bengali modernism and Bengali realism.”

The director said that ‘Charak’ is based on a small story of a two-hit by a young Bengali writer. When asked why he decided to decide to enter into film production with this story and decide to ‘open tea cinema’, “We nurtured, thought and felt that it was that he There can be a film that I should take to the world to tell this, ‘See,’ this is the film I wanted to make, but you did not let me make it.

Sen’s previous work, ‘The Kerala Story’ and ‘Bastar: The Naxal Story’ were questioned for his stories and he was judged. While the East was called Islamophobic by a section of the people, the other was criticized for explaining the violence and struggles faced by the Buster without addressing the root causes of the rebellion. Is ‘Charak’, which is created by the same team, is considered an honest story?

Sen said, ‘Yes’: “This is 100 percent honest. We are not telling anything that is not true. For Bengali Bihari Civil Society, Charak is the main festival. This is a true story.”

“Charaka’s origin is the concept of faith,” he said, “Vishwas,” is something that a common man does unusual things. This is something that makes and destroys at the same time. And the most important thing is that faith is that. Need is the foundation that holds India the oldest civilization in the world, which holds the 78,000 year old civilization of our country. ,

He said, “Charak is a testimony to the concept of faith where people undergo unimaginable and incredible rituals that question your integrity as a civilized human being.”

What about sensationalizing these stories? What is the purpose here: to make the audience sensitive or give them title? Sen said that this idea is to present the truth, as possibly cruelty and formally.

“I like to be told to be told. Tell the truth or get rid of the way. I don’t like to be politically right. I don’t like to be curse or go away from dark reality and people like to keep in that darkness. Troubled, it should bother.

Sen said, “Truth is the only inspiring power for me. I will keep doing this, even if he makes me a dark filmmaker. I would like to become a dark filmmaker. You will find nothing but the truth in my film.”

‘Charak’ is a difficult depiction of a man’s blind faith. Human sacrifices have been banned under law but Sen’s film shows that cruelty continues.
