Arjun Kapoor has come a long way in his Bollywood journey, especially with the success of Singham Again. However, his path to stardom was not without challenges. His parents separated when he was just 10 years old, due to which he faced a difficult childhood. Reflecting on this, he shared how he dealt with it, finding peace as long as his father Boney Kapoor was satisfied. Even when it was difficult, she learned to rationalize the situation early on.
In a recent conversation with Raj Shamani, Arjun Kapoor talked about his parents’ split when he was just 10 years old. “My parents separated when I was 10,” he said. Reflecting on how he handled it, he shared that at the time, it didn’t seem like it would have any lasting impact, but looking back he realizes that it shaped many aspects of his life .
The Singham Again actor shared how his father’s busy schedule affected their relationship during his parents’ separation. He explained that his father Boney Kapoor was focused on completing two major films, Prem and Roop Ki Rani Choro Ka Raja, which left little room for specific father-son moments like the school pick-up.
While his father tried, he admitted that the lack of those experiences along with the partition was something that felt more painful later.
Arjun and his father Boney Kapoor have since mended their relationship. He shared that he now enjoys a closer relationship with his father, having spent more time together, especially in the last five years. He admitted that their relationship grew stronger during difficult times, which helped bridge the gap that had existed over the years.
Recalling his childhood, Arjun Kapoor shared that the partition forced him to mature early and become more responsible. Despite the high-profile nature of the situation, despite his father being famous, Arjun insisted that it was not a traumatic experience for him. He felt the support of both his father’s family and his father himself, which helped balance the situation.
The actor also shared how he endured his parents’ divorce, explaining that as the elder sibling, he had to support his younger sister while their mother dealt with the situation. With his father often absent due to work, Arjun found solace in films, and used it as a way to stay connected with his father and maintain their bond.
Reflecting on his early maturity, Arjun admits that initially he enjoyed the attention, but he soon became responsible. He realized that in order to maintain his relationship with his father, he needed to take action on the situation and accept it. He further added, “Even though I didn’t agree with it, I had rationalized it in my mind at an early age. Okay, whatever’s done is done.” (It’s okay, what’s done is done).
On the work front, Arjun Kapoor made a notable comeback after the break in Singham Again, playing the villain in Rohit Shetty’s action-packed film. The film, starring Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Akshay Kumar, was released in theaters on November 1, 2024.
