There are distinct fan bases for the Karate Kid films. While the OG film celebrated karate, the later version starring Jackie Chan brought kung fu onto the scene. Now imagine what would happen if both worlds merged. Well, that’s exactly what’s happening in Karate Kid: Legends.

The first trailer for Karate Kid: Legends has been released, marking the return of Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio to the franchise, continuing the legacy of martial arts mentorship and rivalry in a new era of challenges and apprentices.

Promising more karate and kung fu action, the brand new trailer honors the previous films and Mr. Miyagi’s legacy, as Daniel LaRusso and Mr. Han unite to train new karate kid Ben Wang. Karate Kid: Legends will be the sixth installment of the long-running martial arts franchise and the first film to bring together two of the franchise’s most iconic characters.

In Karate Kid: Legends, after a family tragedy, kung fu genius Li Fong (Ben Wang) is uprooted from his home in Beijing and forced to live in New York City with his mother. Lee struggles to forget his past as he tries to fit in with his new classmates, and although he doesn’t want to fight, trouble seems to find him everywhere.

When a new friend needs his help, Lee competes in a karate competition – but his skill alone is not enough. Lee’s kung fu teacher Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) is recruited Original Karate Kid Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) for help, and Lee learns a new way of fighting, merging their two styles into one for the ultimate martial arts display.

Directed by Jonathan Entwistle, Karate Kid: Legends stars Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio along with Ben Wang, Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley and Ming-Na Wen. Sony Pictures Entertainment India will exclusively release Karate Kid: Legends in Indian theaters on May 30, 2025 in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
