Vijay Sethupathi is all set and preparing for the release of his film Viduthalai Part 2, which also stars Soori in the lead role. As the film releases on the big screens on December 20, 2024, were you aware of this touching fact behind the actor naming his son Surya?

According to a report in Koimoi, Vijay Sethupathi once revealed that he named his son Suriya after his friend who died during his childhood days. The actor apparently named his son as a tribute to his old friend.

Vijay Sethupathi met his wife Jessie Sethupathi when he was working in Dubai. In the old days, both of them started dating online, after which he returned to India in 2003 and tied the knot with his lady-love. Although the actor was initially interested in cinema, it was after his marriage and the inspiration provided by director Balu Mahendra that inspired him to become an actor.

The actor and his wife have two children, elder son Surya and younger daughter Sreeja. Suriya made his cinema debut by playing his father’s childhood character in Nayanam Rowdy Dhaan, co-starring Nayanthara and directed by Vignesh Shivan. Apart from this, the star kid also played a supporting role opposite his father in the film Sindhubaadh.

By 2024, it was also announced that Suriya will make his debut as a lead actor in stunt master Anel Arasu’s directorial debut, Phoenix. However, the film, which was scheduled to release in November, has been postponed, and a new release date is yet to be announced.
