Aadhaar Verification

Tomorrow is the last day to update your Aadhaar card online for free. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is allowing Indian residents to update their Aadhaar details online for free until June 14, 2024. The government authority encourages citizens to update their Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) documents without any charge to ensure that the documents are up to date and they do not face any inconvenience in Aadhaar-related work.

Updating Aadhaar details is not just a formality but a crucial step to ensure uninterrupted access to various government services and financial systems. Aadhaar, a 12-digit unique identification number, serves as a vital tool for identity verification across multiple platforms. Keeping your Aadhaar up-to-date helps the government prevent duplication of identities and detect fraudulent activities, thereby increasing security and efficiency in service delivery.

Why should you update your Aadhaar?

As per the Aadhaar Enrolment and Update Regulations, 2016, it is mandatory for individuals to update their POI and POA documents every ten years from the date of their Aadhaar enrolment. This rule also applies to children’s biometric details, which must be updated on their blue Aadhaar card at the age of 5 and 15. Regular updates ensure that the Aadhaar database remains accurate, reflecting any changes in personal information such as address, name or marital status.

But what if you miss the deadline?
