Kanguva box office day 8: Suriya’s film ends on a slow note in first week
Suriya’s Kanguva collected around Rs 64 crore nett in its first week at the domestic box office. The film had a moderate week and now, all eyes are on its second weekend performance.

The action adventure drama did not live up to the expectations of the audience and the same was reflected in the numbers. After opening at Rs 24 crore last Thursday, the film’s earnings declined drastically in the first weekend itself. The second day’s collection on Friday was Rs 9.5 crore, while on Saturday also no strong hold was seen. The film’s weekday performance was also subpar, with the total collection limited to Rs 2–3.5 crore in a single day.

Kanguva faced tough competition in the Tamil film Amaran. Sivakarthikeyan plays continue to run in theatres. While various reports suggested that Kangwa would challenge the smooth running of the military-based film, the exact opposite was seen at the box office.
Kanguva received mixed reviews upon its release last weekend. However, audio issues in the film prevented audiences from visiting theatres. The film will continue to run in theaters till December 5 when Pushpa 2: The Rule is scheduled to release in theaters with a promising start at the box office.
