The All India Cine Workers Association, which advocates for the safety of artists and workers in the Indian film industry, described his death as 32 year old crew member on the sets of Anupama ‘Institutional murder caused by the greed and negligence of producers, production houses and channels.’

A copy of the letter written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was shared on AICWA on Twitter.

The letter said that the incident occurred around 9:30 pm on November 14 due to faulty and poorly maintained equipment on the set, resulting in electric shock. Despite the tragedy, shooting continued until midnight and resumed at the regular time the next day. An FIR has been lodged against the electrical contractor for alleged negligence.

AICWA has urged the Chief Minister to file FIR under section 302 of IPC against all parties responsible for the incident. They are demanding accountability from producers, production houses, channels and other concerned officials. As compensation, the TV organization has asked the production team to give Rs 1 crore to the family of the deceased employee. Additionally, he stressed the need for strict safety protocols on the sets and requested to stop the shooting of Rupali Ganguly’s serial until justice is served.

Rajan Shahi’s Director’s Cut Productions, the production house behind the show, has not yet released any official statement regarding the tragedy.
