Game of Thrones film in early stages of development: report
Warner Bros. has begun early-stage planning for a Game of Thrones film. The film will be set in George RR Martin’s Westeros.

As reported, Warner Bros. has quietly begun early-stage development on a feature film set within the vast fantasy world of George RR Martin. hollywood reporterAlthough the project is in its early stages with no director, cast or writer involved, sources say the studio is interested in bringing the realm of Westeros to the big screen.
This potential development could signal a strategic shift for Warner Bros. in regards to Martin’s Game of Thrones universe. Notably, original Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss envisioned concluding the series with a trilogy of films rather than a final TV season in 2019.
Martin himself supported the concept. However, HBO strongly resisted this notion, choosing to maintain Game of Thrones as a distinct, iconic television property.
Another prequel series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, is also scheduled for 2025. With multiple projects reportedly in development, Warner Bros.’s film ambitions for Westeros could signal a new chapter for Martin’s fantasy saga.
