Shahrukh Khan’s huge success in Bollywood is not only because of his box office success but also because of his humble and hard-working attitude. In a new interview, filmmaker Rahul Dholakia shared an old incident from the sets of his film Raees when King Khan had knee problems. Yet the actor continued filming more scenes which shows his professionalism and willpower.
In a candid conversation with Mashable India, the filmmaker recalled how they worked together on their film Raees. Dholakia shared a memory from the sets of Raees and said, “Shah Rukh had a knee problem. His knee used to swell. And we had to take action. Shah Rukh had a big knee problem and it was extremely painful. I felt like, ‘How would you do this?’ He said, ‘Chinta mat kar yaar, main kar loonga (Don’t worry, I will do it)’ and the way he used to place his foot.’
Given the nature of the film, it involved a lot of action sequences, and Rahul asked the action director not to ask for more retakes, which could have put the megastar through the same pain. However, Khan overheard this and eased the producers’ tension by saying that he could do better.
Rahul Dholakia admitted that Shahrukh could have easily postponed the shooting schedule. Instead, he continued shooting the remaining portion, demonstrating his resilience and dedication.
The director praised Khan and the support he gives to others. Talking about the same, she said, “Shah Rukh makes you feel very comfortable. He is not an insecure actor. He is not an insecure human being, and he is encouraging. He is on your side.”
Elaborating more on the topic, Rahul mentioned that he did not like adding songs in his films and the story of Raees did not require it. Yet, when King Khan and the producers came to know about it, they asked him to do otherwise. Recalling the same, the director said, “He said, ‘Your film won’t last even a day.’ I said, ‘What do songs have to do with films?’ He said, ‘You are new to this commercial film experience.’
Raees was released in 2017, where fans got a chance to see Shah Rukh Khan in a different look as he played the role of an 80s bootlegger king. It also stars Mahira Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in important roles, but failed to perform at the box office.
