Director Vinod Kapri’s film Pierre has been selected for its world premiere in the Official Competition section at the 28th edition of the prestigious Tallin Black Nights Film Festival.
Set in the remote mountains of Uttarakhand, Pyar features 80-year-old non-professional actors, called Aama and Bubu (grandmother and grandfather), who capture the essence of life in the Himalayan region.
It is the only Indian film in the competition category at the festival this year. The film features an award-winning international crew, with Canadian composer Michael Danna, known for Life of Pi and Moneyball, providing the score, and German editor Patricia Rommel, known for The Lives of Others, Berlin. I am editing the film. Famous Indian lyricist Gulzar has also contributed a song to the project.
Pierre is set to begin its festival run ahead of a theatrical release planned for next year. The first poster and pictures of the film have been released.
