Sophie Turner famously played the role of Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, a character who was initially hated but gained her fans as the seasons progressed. The series concluded with Sansa becoming Queen of the North, much to the delight of fans. Going from a naive and selfish child to a wise and calculating ruler was a fulfilling moment not only for fans but also for Turner herself, who has been playing the role since she was 15.
In an interview with Variety, the X-Men: Dark Phoenix actress discussed the possibility of Sansa’s return and her love for the character. When asked if she would like to play the role again, Turner said, “Maybe.” But the condition that will erase his doubts is the return of the same cast and crew.
She said, “I mean, it has to be the exact same cast and the exact same crew, otherwise I wouldn’t go back and it would just be Season 9.” Although she was quick to dismiss any hopes for the next GoT season, she admitted that Sansa will always be on her mind.
“I love playing Sansa and I often wonder what she might be doing now,” she said. “Where will she be after five years? What would she be doing? Will she still be Queen in the North? Will she be a good ruler? Could there have been some other terrible war? I would love to see it,” she added.
Despite all the expectations, the last season of Game of Thrones was a huge disappointment. Its rushed and chaotic story, which had countless flaws, earned it the lowest Rotten Tomatoes rating in the series’ history. However, some of the cast defended the series finale on various occasions.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister, defended the show. “I love endings!” He shouted. “You don’t have to agree with me. How about I say, ‘Yeah, I agree. I hated the finale. The whole last season was terrible.’ If I said I liked what I did, it would be worse than that.”
Christian Nairn, who played tragic hero Hodor, defended Daenerys’s actions in the season finale during his conversation with ScreenRant. He said that it was easy for people to claim that he had behaved uncharacteristically, but the signs of his ultimate destruction were always there. “She actually said at one stage that as soon as Drogon was big enough, she was going to move out of King’s Landing. And what happened? He did what he said.”
