Suriya’s brother Karthi is all set for the release of his upcoming film Meyazhagan. The film also stars Arvind Swamy in the lead role. Recently, the audio launch event of Meyazhagan was held in Coimbatore where actor Suriya was also present. During the event, the Jai Bhim actor addressed the audience and spoke about how box office numbers have become a bigger concern than the art of storytelling.
Suriya urged his fans at the event to watch the films for their stories and characters. He urged them to ignore the box office figures as it is not a matter of concern. “Watch the films, and celebrate them for the stories and characters and stay away from worrying too much about the box office figures and fighting with others. The collection of the films should not be your concern,” said Suriya.
Watch his viral speech at the event below:
In an old interview, Karthi revealed that after watching Meyazhagan, his brother Surya was very impressed and hugged him. He said that the last time this happened was during his debut film Paruthiveeran. Karthi said, “After watching this film, when I was having food, he came to me and hugged me just like that. I think I have not received such a reaction since my debut film in Paruthiveeran. This is very special.”
Karthi also revealed how Suriya would frequently visit the sets of his film to watch him work. Jokingly, he said that Suriya used to create disturbance on the 44 actor’s sets as he would attract a large crowd.
While Meyazhagan is going to be a heartwarming story, the film will clash with Jr NTR starrer Devara: Part 1 in theatres on September 27. It will be interesting for fans to watch this box office clash as the hype of Devara among the audience is much more than Meyazhagan.
Nevertheless, Meyazhagan starring Karthi and Arvind Swamy, directed by Prem Kumar, is a family drama. The film also stars Sri Divya in a key role.
