In India, buying vegetables from the nearby Sabzi Mandi feels incomplete without ‘free’ dhaniya (coriander leaves). Well, we bet most of you will agree with this sentiment! Taking inspiration from the same, Blinkit has recently started the same practice to make the online delivery platform even more reliable for everyone. You read that right! Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa announced the news on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), and said that they will further improve the feature in the coming weeks.
“It’s live! Everyone please thank Ankit’s mom. We will be making this feature more fun and better in the next few weeks,” he posted, along with a screenshot of the Blinkit cart that listed coriander as a ‘free gift’ along with the vegetables ordered.

The development came to light when an X user named Ankit Sawant shared his disappointment in a post, mentioning that his mother was unhappy about having to pay for coriander leaves along with the vegetables ordered on Blinkit. Ankit tagged Albinder Dhindsa on the post and shared his mother’s idea of ’free coriander’ when buying vegetables through the grocery delivery platform.
The post read, “Mum had a mini heart attack because she had to pay for coriander on Blinkit. @albinder – Mum is suggesting you should get it for free with a certain amount of veggies.”

It seems that the CEO of Blinkit was very quick to consider the suggestion and it gained a lot of attention on the internet. In less than 24 hours, the post has garnered around 683k views, over 9k likes, and hundreds of comments.
“This coriander update equates to a billion dollars in market capitalization. Closed 5% higher tomorrow,” one comment said.
Another wrote, “Most impressive social media usage ever (especially X) and fast implementation by a company. Betting big on Zomato and Blinkit!”
A third comment read, “Wow… execution speed…” Another person wrote, “Execution speed is so good!” One comment read, “Dude! Seriously, it’s amazing.”
“This is literally every mother’s habit but thank you! My mother would be happy too,” wrote one user.
