Nike has announced the return of Elliot Hill as president and CEO, replacing John Donahoe. This reshuffle in leadership comes amid the sportswear giant’s efforts to revive its sales and combat growing competition in the industry. Mr. Hill, who boasts an impressive 32-year career at Nike, has held numerous roles and played a key role in shaping the company’s trajectory. His efforts have contributed significantly to the brand’s growth, leading it to an impressive revenue of over $39 billion. As Mr. Hill takes the helm, employees and industry observers are eager to see how his deep expertise impacts Nike’s future.

Homecoming for Elliot Hill

Effective October 14, 2024, Mr. Hill will not only step into the role of CEO, but will also join the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of NIKE, Inc. Although he may be relatively unknown to the general public, within Nike, he is a respected figure. Many employees hold him in high regard, recognizing his commitment and contributions to the brand.

Mr. Hill is a graduate of Texas Christian University (TCU) and Ohio University, currently serving on TCU’s Board of Trustees. His journey at Nike began in 1988 as an intern, and over the years, he has served in 19 different roles, culminating with his retirement in 2020 as President of Consumer and Marketplace.

Throughout his career at Nike, Mr. Hill held various senior leadership positions in Europe and North America, driving the Company’s growth and revenue growth. As President of Consumer and Marketplace, he was responsible for managing Nike’s largest brands and driving the Company’s commercial and marketing strategies across global markets.

On his LinkedIn profile, Mr. Hill said, “In my previous role as President – Consumer and Marketplace at Nike, I ran the largest brands in the sports industry and was responsible for helping grow NIKE, Inc. to $39 billion. I was also responsible for the Nike business, including the Jordan Brand and marketing operations, and all four of Nike’s geographic regions.”

His passion for sports extends far beyond his professional life. In his spare time, he enjoys running, hiking, cycling, and skiing, and he also founded a baseball team in Austin called the Austin Moontowers. He balances his active lifestyle with spending time with family, spending quality time with his wife, Gina, and their two children, Peyton and Austin.
