How to make dosa batter soft?Secret Ingredients:Urad Dal – Another Airy Wonder:Baking Soda: The Fluff-BoosterMethod to make Soft and Fluffy Dosa:

There are very few dishes that can match the popularity and versatility of the popular dosa. This thin and crispy South Indian dish has won the hearts of foodies not just in India but across the globe. We all love its crispy texture, but there are many of us who would also want to have a soft and fluffy dosa that melts in the mouth and experience the same heavenly taste. Wouldn’t you want to experience that? Well, now you can. Here, we bring you a special twist to the classic dosa – a recipe that promises to give you soft and fluffy dosas that will rekindle your love for this dish.

How to make dosa batter soft?

Secret Ingredients:

Its secret lies in the careful selection and combination of ingredients. The secret ingredient in this recipe is sabudana (tapioca pearls) which provides a light and airy texture, resulting in the dosa practically floating above the pan. This dosa is made with urad dal, rice and a pinch of baking soda. Each element plays an important role in achieving the desired texture and taste of these delicious dosas.

Urad Dal – Another Airy Wonder:

Urad dal, a protein-rich type of lentil, provides the base for the batter. Urad dal also contributes to creating a light and airy texture in the dosa batter. When ground into a smooth paste, urad dal adds a distinct flavour and helps to make the dosa soft and fluffy.

Baking Soda: The Fluff-Booster

For those who want to make their dosas even softer, a pinch of baking soda always comes in handy. This common kitchen ingredient acts as a leavening agent, making the batter rise and creating air pockets inside the dosas. As a result, you get incredibly light, fluffy and extremely flavourful dosas.
Making cottony soft dosa with these ingredients is indeed a great idea. And we give credit to food vlogger Shruti Mahajan, who shared this easy recipe on her Instagram handle ‘somewhatchef’. Let’s see how to make cottony soft dosa, which is as light and spongy as a set dosa.

Method to make Soft and Fluffy Dosa:

After washing, soak the sabudana in a cup of water. Also, soak urad dal and idli rice separately for 4-5 hours. Drain the water and grind all of them with some water to make a smooth batter. Add salt as per taste and mix well. Cover the bowl and let the batter ferment overnight or for 8-10 hours. Then add some water to make it a little thinner and cook like a regular dosa.
The combination of the earthy flavour of urad dal, the slight spiciness of fermented rice, the delicate texture of sabudana and the lightness provided by baking soda creates a unique culinary delight.
