Jimmy Fallon is looking to win the title of Sexiest TV Host curated by PEOPLE, but he’s facing some tough competition! On the September 18 episode of The Tonight Show, Fallon celebrated his nomination and called out his much “nicer” competitors for backing down. “I’m up against Seth Meyers, Mario Lopez and Mark Consuelos. Yuck!” he said sarcastically.
The comedian then gave reasons why he should win the category, but in the end he urged the others to quit the competition. “I’m very honored, but Seth would let me take it… he would want me to take it. He’s a young guy — let grandpa take one thing,” Fallon joked. Lopez and Consuelos were told to be “fine,” but they also let him take the title.
He further claimed that the hosts of Live with Kelly and Mark and Access Hollywood could “opt out” of the ballot and leave a message dedicated to them. He looked into the camera and urged Consuelos to remove her name. “Then it will be a contest between me and Mario Lopez,” he said.
As for Lopez, who has been a guest on The Tonight Show and apparently let Jimmy have it. Fallon said, “He’d say, for the honor, ‘Jimmy, you’ve got this.'” To further impress the outlet, he posed with a PEOPLE tote bag and pretended to walk on the subway.
Fallon pointed out another similarity between himself and the outlet to bolster his pitch to win the title of Sexiest TV Host, pointing out that both the magazine and he recently celebrated 50 years of accomplishment. “Look at this. ‘Founded in 1974.’ Do you know what else was founded in 1974? Me! Are you kidding? This shouldn’t be a big deal,” he joked.
