Tumbbad again tops the box office on day one: beats The Buckingham Murders on day one
The re-release of Tumbbad opened well at the box office on its opening day. The film surpassed the opening day business of Kareena Kapoor Khan’s The Buckingham Murders.

Sohum Shah’s much-awaited film Tumbbad re-released in theatres on Friday, September 13. The film crossed its first day’s business and grossed around Rs 1.50 crore in India, reported trade websites. SaconilcThis is more than the first day collection of Kareena Kapoor Khan’s recent film The Buckingham Murders in India. The film directed by Hansal Mehta earned Rs 1.25 crore on Friday.
Tumbbad is expected to grow over the weekend given the buzz of its re-release and the visual experience the audience will get on the big screen. Backed by Sohum and Anand L Rai, the film is expected to cross its original lifetime collection of Rs 10 crore at the domestic box office.
With no new Hindi releases hitting the screens, Tumbbad is expected to cross the Rs 10 crore mark in its first week itself. Buckingham Murders is a crime thriller that appeals to a niche audience, which is why if the audience actually decides to watch it in theatres again, the film is very unlikely to compete with Tumbbad.
Meanwhile, Sohum announced Tumbbad 2 on Saturday, September 14. While he didn’t reveal much, he did share a teaser of the film, hinting that the sequel will be more mysterious and entertaining than the first film.
