The WandaVision finale saw Kathryn Hahn’s character Agatha Harkness trapped in a cursed stupor, leaving fans in suspense. The actress revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone that she had a feeling that her character would return and answer all the questions. In fact, her last words with head writer Jac Schaeffer were on the same topic.
“I remember Jac Schaeffer said, ‘God, I would love to write for you again,'” she recalled. “We both kept saying to each other at the end of WandaVision, ‘We have unfinished business.'” When their minds came together they couldn’t quite predict the outcome, and at that point, it was enough.
Indeed, her intrusion proved to be correct and Hahn landed a full-fledged spin-off series revolving around the evil Salem witch and her exploits. However, she was surprisingly horrified when Marvel called her to pitch the spin-off idea. “I got a call from Louis D’Esposito saying, ‘How do you feel about your own Marvel show?’ – a call you never get. My heart was pounding,” she recalled.
Hahn kept looking for ways to “minimize” the pressure until shooting began, even though she knew how big of a deal it was. The actress first appeared in the Disney+ WandaVision series. Despite being an evil witch, her character was loved by fans and her song Agatha All Along – which eventually became the title of the spin-off series – was a huge hit.
After her stellar performance in the original series, which revolved around Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, and also her first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hahn has proven her worth. Could her character potentially appear in MCU films like Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars?
When the actress was asked about her character’s future and a possible entry into the Avengers films, she claimed it would only happen if it was deemed “necessary” and “juicy” for the film. “So, who knows? The craziest, most perfect side-door entry into this world is to become a witch. It feels like the evil stepsister. And I really like that,” she said.
Agatha All Along will be available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from September 18.
