A 22-year-old and three 18-year-olds have been arrested in connection with the murder of General Hospital star Johnny Vactor. The arrests took place on August 15, nearly three months after Vactor was shot and killed in downtown Los Angeles.
A colleague of Johnny Vactor, who was present at the time of his murder, is deeply emotional about the arrest of his suspected killers, but she also believes the actor’s family will not rest until the culprits receive the harshest punishment possible.
Anita Joy told TMZ that although she is relieved that three people have been taken into custody and charged with murder, true justice will only be served when these individuals receive serious punishment.
As a result of the hefty bond amounts placed on all of the suspects, Johnny’s partner says she feels positive about the incident. Due to what she saw the night of the murder, she initially thought the suspects may not have been of legal age and was concerned they would not be tried as adults. However, all three will have to be tried as adults because they are eighteen years old.
The suspects have been identified as Robert Barcelue, 18, of Huntington Park, Frank Olano, 22, of Inglewood, Leonel Gutierrez, 18, of L.A. County, and Sergio Estrada.
Anita believes the tragedy could have been prevented if Level 8 had provided secure parking facilities to employees. She adds that this is something she and others have constantly raised, but nothing has ever been done about it.
Three members of the Florencia 13 gang were taken into custody by the LAPD on murder charges on Thursday after Johnny was shot in the chest while he attempted to confront a group who stole his car’s catalytic converter outside the Level 8 restaurant in downtown Los Angeles.
Vactor was best known as Brando Corbin on General Hospital. Additionally, he has appeared in television shows such as Criminal Minds, The OA, NCIS, Army Wives, and Westworld.
