Google has finally launched its new smartphone line-up – the Pixel 9 series. During the Made by Google event, the company revealed everything about the latest hardware and software updates in the Google Universe. The Google Pixel 9 series includes 4 devices, namely Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The event takes the audience through Google’s AI, Gemini. The recently launched smartphones are also deeply integrated with Gemini. It is true that Google has shared Gemini with other Android phones as well, but the Google Pixel 9 series has a lot more to offer. The series has several exclusive Gemini features that are aimed at improving the user experience. Let’s take a deeper look at the recently released smartphones by Google.

Google Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold launched: Top specs

Google Pixel 9: This smartphone is the standard variant and the most affordable of all. The Pixel 9 sports a 6.3-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2424 pixels and a refresh rate of 60Hz to 120Hz. The panel has a local brightness of 1800nits and a peak brightness of 2700nits. The screen is also protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 coating. At the heart, the Pixel 9 is powered by Google’s Tensor G4 processor, paired with the Titan M2 security coprocessor, which promises not only fast performance but also multi-layer hardware security. Google claims that the device comes with anti-malware and anti-phishing protection.

For optics, the device features a dual rear camera setup, which includes a 50-megapixel wide lens and a 48-megapixel ultrawide lens. The device supports up to 8x Super Res Zoom, allowing users to capture detailed photos even from far away.

It has a 4700mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging, and is also compatible with wireless charging. The wired charger is sold separately, just like previous Pixel phones. The Pixel 9 comes with 12GB of RAM and offers storage options of 128GB and 256GB. It runs on Android 14 and promises 7 years of Android OS and security updates, so you’re getting long-term software support.

Google Pixel 9 Pro: Next, the slightly more advanced model, the Pixel 9 Pro, has a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED panel with a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 coating, a higher resolution of 1280 x 2856 pixels, and an adaptive refresh rate that can range from 1Hz to 120Hz. The camera system on the Pixel 9 Pro has been upgraded with a triple rear setup, including a 48-megapixel telephoto lens. The primary camera setup also includes a 50-megapixel octa PD wide camera and a 48-megapixel quad PD ultrawide camera.

There is no change in terms of battery. Pixel 9 Pro also has a 4700mAh battery and the device supports both 45W wired charging just like Pixel 9. Wireless charging support is also present here. Pixel 9 Pro is equipped with 16GB of RAM and offers storage capacity ranging from 128GB to 1TB.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL: Now while the size remains unchanged after the Pixel 9 to 9 Pro update, Google has introduced another model that is bigger in size than the standard and Pro models. It features a 6.8-inch 24-bit LTPO OLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 coating and a resolution of 1344 x 2992 pixels. Like its Pro sibling, it is powered by the Tensor G4 processor and has the same triple rear camera system, which is capable of achieving 30x Super Res Zoom.

Not just the size, but it also has a relatively large battery with a 5,060mAh battery. Google claims that the device can charge up to 70 percent in 30 minutes using its charger. The device is available with 16GB of RAM and is being offered in multiple storage options including 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold: The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold features a taller and slimmer design than the previous-generation Pixel Fold. It has a 6.3-inch cover display and an 8-inch Super Actua Flex inner display. Google says this is the “largest display ever on a phone.”

The external screen has a resolution of 1080 x 2424 pixels at 422 ppi. The display reaches a peak brightness of up to 1800 nits and up to 2700 nits in HDR. Both displays support HDR and both are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold measures 5.1mm when unfolded and 10.5mm when folded.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold has the same G4 Tensor chip, which comes with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It also has an upgraded camera system with a 48-megapixel wide camera, a 10.5-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 10.8-megapixel telephoto sensor with 5x optical zoom and 20x Super Res Zoom.

It has a 4650mAh battery with 45W fast charging. It also supports Qi-certified wireless charging.

Google Pixel 9 series: Gemini features

The Made by Google event started by giving the audience information about its AI– Gemini. But Gemini is also available in many other flagships and some budget-range devices. So, Google introduced a list of new AI features that are exclusive to the Google Pixel 9 series. It said that the recently launched series is designed for the Gemini era. , Gemini Live: This feature aims to change the way Google Assistance works. Just like OpenAI ChatGPT’s voice mode, Gemini also offers multiple voice assistants to choose from. You can search the internet or simply interact with it.

, Pixel screenshot: Google has come up with an AI-powered application that can help you find your screenshots. It works somewhat like Microsoft’s Recall feature. But Google has found a way to make it not controversial. This feature works only on screenshots and requires user permission.

Google Pixel 9 series launched: Price and availability in India

The Pixel 9 series is priced starting at Rs 74,999 for the 128GB standard model, Rs 94,999 for the Pixel 9 Pro, and Rs 1,14,999 for the Pixel 9 Pro XL. The new lineup is available in six colours: Obsidian, Porcelain, Wintergreen, Peony, Hazel, and Rose Quartz. Customers can buy these devices from Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital, and select offline stores.

Google has announced that pre-orders for the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL begin today and they will be available in stores from August 22. The regular Pro model and the Pixel Fold will be available in September, but exact dates are yet to be revealed.

A single variant of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be launched in India, priced at Rs 1,72,999 and will be available in two colours: Obsidian and Porcelain. While pre-order and availability details are yet to be revealed, the foldable device will be widely available on Flipkart, Reliance Digital, and Croma, breaking away from Google’s traditional exclusive partnership with Flipkart.

The company also revealed that it is opening three Google-owned walk-in centers in Delhi and Bengaluru, followed by a similar one in Mumbai soon. Talking about sale offers, users will get up to 1 year of Google One AI premium subscription with the Pixel 9 device. There will be huge discount offers of up to Rs 10,000 on the new Pixel device, which will bring down the prices of the Pixel 9 phone drastically.
