OnePlus has announced a new update for its smartphones. It has introduced a new monthly software series that aims to improve the user experience with regular and timely updates. This new initiative, detailed in a post on the OnePlus Community forum, introduces versions U120P01 and U120P02 that promise to bring instant improvements and new features to eligible devices without the usual gradual over-the-air (OTA) process.
The recently announced monthly software updates will complement the existing periodic updates and security patches. OnePlus will roll out these updates to compatible devices to ensure that users get the latest features and improvements as soon as they are available. The updates will also include OnePlus’ self-developed apps.
“We are excited to announce the launch of version U120P01 and version U120P02, a new monthly software update series for OnePlus devices that will be included as part of regular system upgrades,” the company said.
The monthly update series is compatible with smartphones running the latest OxygenOS 14.00 and above as well as previous versions like OxygenOS 13.1.0 and 13.00. The rollout began on August 2 and is being delivered in phases. The company says it aims to roll out the new update by September 6.
The list of devices eligible for the update includes OnePlus 12 series, OnePlus Open, OnePlus 11 series, OnePlus 10 series, OnePlus 9 series, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus Nord 4 5G, OnePlus Nord 3 5G, OnePlus Nord 2T 5G, OnePlus Nord CE 4 5G, OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G, OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G, OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G, OnePlus Pad, and OnePlus Pad Go.
Users are advised to check their device settings for the availability of this update by going to Settings > About device > OxygenOS card. The update process will be incremental, initially targeting a small batch of handsets before expanding to a wider rollout.
