Princess of Wales Kate Middleton revealed in March that she had cancer. Meanwhile, a new royal biography has revealed that she had emergency surgery to remove a lump from her head as a teenager, according to a report. IndependentThis was shared by royal author Rob Jobson in his upcoming book ‘Catherine, The Princess of Wales’.
“Apart from bouts of morning sickness and, of course, being in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital to give birth to her children, Katherine has fortunately avoided going to hospital for most of her life,” Mr Jobson said. “However, when she was a teenager, at Marlborough College she noticed a lump on the left side of her head, just below the hairline,” he said.
The author further explained that her mother rushed her to the hospital where doctors removed it. “The school immediately informed her parents and her mother Carol rushed her to the hospital, where she underwent surgery to remove it,” she wrote in the book.
However, the operation left a three-inch scar which many noticed during Ms Middleton’s first solo engagement two decades ago. Buckingham Palace released a brief statement that read, “The scar is related to an operation she had in childhood.”
Meanwhile, the princess said in June that she was undergoing preventive chemotherapy and that her condition was progressing well. However, she was “not out of the woods”.
In a personal written message, Ms Middleton said she had been “amazed” by the thousands of kind messages she had received from around the world since announcing her cancer in March. Her statement said: “I am making good progress but, as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days.”
“On bad days you feel weak and tired and you need to give your body a rest. But on good days, when you feel strong, you want to take full advantage of feeling good,” she said, adding that exercise has made a huge difference for her and her husband, heir to the throne Prince William.
“My treatment is ongoing and will last for a few more months,” she said. “I’m looking forward to attending the King’s Birthday Parade with my family this weekend and hope to attend some public events in the summer, but I know I’m not out of the woods yet,” she said on June 14.
The Princess of Wales was recently spotted at the Wimbledon men’s final in London, when she walked onto court to present the trophy to winner Carlos Alcaraz. An avid tennis fan and player herself, Kate was greeted with a standing ovation as she entered the Royal Box at Centre Court, accompanied by her daughter Princess Charlotte and sister Pippa Matthews.
