Neeraj Ghaywan’s 2015 directorial debut Masaan is one of the most thought-provoking films of recent times. Starring Richa Chadha and Vicky Kaushal, the film has gained a cult status since its release. The film proved to be a turning point in Vicky’s career as he played his first lead role in Ghaywan’s directorial venture.

On July 24, Masaan completed nine years of its release, on the occasion Richa celebrated the 2015 film.

Richa Chadha has dedicated her post to Masaan

On Wednesday, Richa Chadha shared the climax scene of Masaan on Instagram. Richa wrote a long note in the caption, recalling her journey in the 2015 film.

“…For my character, a lot of it was about silence. About the ghost of grief on Devi’s shoulders, like Betaal, accompanying her everywhere, leaving her indifferent, frustrated, angry but calm. It feels like just yesterday we made this beautiful film,” reads an excerpt from her caption.

Expressing her gratitude towards director Neeraj Ghaywan and screenwriter Varun Grover, Richa said, “I will always be grateful to Neeraj and Varun for writing this woman.”

In her post, Richa Chadha also mentioned her Masaan co-star Vicky Kaushal. She wrote, “This film gave the industry Vicky Kaushal and India Neeraj Ghaywan’s cinema (honestly, I can’t wait to see more of his films).”

Richa ended her post with, “…With all the true love in my heart, congratulations to you, the audience and our amazing cast and crew on 9 years of Masaan!”

Many netizens reacted to Richa Chadha’s Instagram post. Vicky Kaushal got emotional and wrote, “Richa!” Vicky added an emotional and red heart emoji.

Dia Mirza commented, “Richa you are a gem. What a brilliant performance.” Saba Azad wrote, “You are so good Richu.”

Masaan depicts the complexities of caste, culture, life, death and pain, with Richa and Vicky’s characters navigating their lives in their own stories. The 2015 film also featured Pankaj Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra and Shweta Tripathi.

Talking about personal life, Richa Chadha recently welcomed her daughter with her husband, actor Ali Fazal. She was last seen in the series Hiramandi: The Diamond Bazaar in May this year.
