A rumor from Korea in April claimed that Samsung is redesigning the back of the entire Galaxy S27 family, with the camera island being moved around so that the company can finally fit magnets for wireless charging in its flagship phones.
A few days later, the speculated renders seen below surfaced, allegedly showing the design of the Galaxy S27 Ultra (which is expected to come with only three cameras). However, today a new rumor from Korea claims that Samsung hasn’t decided anything yet.

This source says all of the rumored designs (including the one shown above) are false. The company is apparently considering several options, but none of them have this kind of “simple horizontal layout.” So there may be more ‘complex’ horizontal designs on the table.
The most interesting part of this rumor is that it alleges that Samsung may scrap the idea entirely, leaving the existing vertical camera island design untouched other than removing one camera. Thus, the Galaxy S27 Ultra could end up looking similar to the Galaxy S26 and S26+, more so than the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Of course, these phones are still very early in the development cycle, so there’s no guarantee that any of these rumors are accurate. So it’s always a good idea to take them with a grain of salt.
