The hit pair of ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’ (ZGH), Pakistani actors Sanam Saeed and Fawad Khan, have reunited for Zindagi’s new show ‘Barzakh’. The duo is coming back after 12 years, leaving fans excited. However, in an exclusive conversation with India Today, Sanam expressed her strong desire to see their new series with a clean image, beyond the expectations people have of ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’.

When asked why it took 12 years for the Fawad-Sanam reunion, Sanam told India Today, “I don’t know why it took 12 years. I think people were waiting for the right script which we finally got. I mean, now I have three projects with Fawad. One for Zee5, one for Sony Liv and one on Netflix. If the audience doesn’t like us in one role, they might like us in another.”

He elaborated, “However, this (Barzakh) was the first film where both of us were cast together, not based on ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’ but purely based on our acting skills. And I hope the audience takes the character and its dynamics well.”

Acknowledging the love that ZGH is receiving, Sanam said, “This is another reminder to the viewers that We are not Kashf and Zaroon, we are actors! So love the work but keep ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’ on a shelf, but go ahead and watch us In different dynamics, as actors! (We are not Kashf or Zaroon. We are actors. Please keep the memories of ZGH in your hearts/shelves but support us in different roles to move forward). Hope people will appreciate it.”

‘Barzakh’ will be released on YouTube Premium on July 19, with each episode dropping every Friday.
