Responding to Gupta’s comments, FWICE general secretary Ashok Dubey referred to an old issue related to Gupta’s film mumbai saga And said the federation had stepped in to help resolve the matter. He also clarified that FWICE had not imposed a complete ban on Ranveer Singh, but had issued a non-cooperation declaration (NCD), leaving it to the federation members to decide whether or not to work with the actor.

talking to Hindustan TimesDubey recalled an alleged incident during its production mumbai sagaWhen Jackie Shroff refused to continue shooting. “I want to ask Sanjay Gupta ji when his film came out a few years ago mumbai saga Shooting was going on and Jackie Shroff refused to come, it was IFTDA and the Federation who together solved the problem.. (Jackie Shroff refused to come for the shoot, it was IFTDA and the Federation that together helped resolve the issue). Then where was this objection?” Dubey said.

The Secretary-General said that FWICE’s action was wrongly read as a ban. “We have not banned anyone, we have just said non-cooperation, it is the decision of the federation members, this is the internal decision of the film body. (We have not banned anyone; we have only declared non-cooperation. This is the decision of the federation members and is an internal matter of the film body),” he said.

What did Sanjay Gupta say?

Gupta had earlier questioned FWICE’s move in a post on X on Monday, May 25. Responding to the controversy, he argued that such decisions affect film workers more than the stars. “When an A list hero shoots there are over 300 employees working on the set. Ban him and you are not stopping him but depriving the workers of their livelihood. What does this mean???” Gupta wrote.

Ranveer Singh’s statement on controversy

Following the federation’s decision, Singh released an official statement and said that he deliberately remained silent during the controversy out of respect for everyone involved. The statement read, “Ranveer Singh holds the highest respect for the film fraternity and everyone associated with the Don franchise. During the recent developments surrounding Don 3, he has deliberately chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect.”

Reports also suggested that the dispute had reached the Producers Guild of India, where senior producers reportedly tried to mediate between the actor and Excel Entertainment.
