The OnePlus Nord 4 was unveiled today at the company’s Summer Lunch event in Milan, Italy. The new smartphone features a design that goes against the current glass-sandwich trend, opting for a metal unibody instead.
The phone runs on Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, paired with 8GB, 12GB or 16GB of RAM. Storage is 128GB UFS 3.1 or 256GB/512GB UFS 4.0.
The OnePlus Nord 4 is built around a 6.74″ Super Fluid AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and 1240p resolution. It has a single punch hole for the 16 MP selfie camera.
On the back there is a 50 MP main shooter with OIS and EIS and an 8 MP ultrawide snapper. The main camera can record videos at up to 4K resolution and 60 fps.
The Nord 4 packs a 5,500 mAh battery with 100W wired charging support that helps it reach 100% in less than 30 minutes. However, you will have to buy a proprietary adapter separately as there isn’t going to be one in the box.
The battery will retain at least 80% of its capacity after 1,600 complete cycles, relieving anyone worried about excessive degradation caused by quick charging.
OnePlus aimed for a metal unibody design from the start, which required innovative solutions. They changed the antennas to a U-shape and added small pillars inside the phone’s rear cover, effectively halving the size of the antennas and increasing signal amplification.
The new design is called Nordtones and the phone comes in Mercurial Silver, Oasis Green, and Obsidian Midnight colours.
OnePlus touts the Nord 4 as the first international phone with an AI-infused midrange chipset. It features AI Audio Summary, AI Note Summary, and AI LinkBoost that connects to mobile networks “faster than ever.”
The Nord 4 also comes with an AI Groupfie feature that artificially replaces the eyes of people in a group shot so that no one blinks.
The phone runs Oxygen OS 14.1 based on Android 14, and OnePlus has promised 4 Android version updates and six years of security updates, which means it will be supported until 2030.
In Europe, the OnePlus Nord 4 is priced at £429/€499 for the 12/256GB version, while the top 16/512GB option costs £529/€599. Pre-orders are already open and those who pre-book will get free Nord Buds 3 Pro TWS earphones and a €50 discount if they opt for the larger storage variant. The open sale will begin on August 8.
