Narayan said the makers had applied for certification in December 2025 and the vetting committee has now seen the film. He said that the team is waiting for the final certificate so that the film can be released in theaters as soon as possible.

Will Jana Nayagan be released soon?

“We are hopeful (the film will be released soon). We need to follow the law of the country. We need to get the censor certificate to release any film in theaters. We applied for the censor (certification) in the month of December 2025. And we all know what happened after that. The vetting committee has also seen the film now. We are hoping that we will get the certificate as soon as possible. And the film will be in theaters soon. Maybe this is it.” As luck would have it, despite all of us doing whatever we had to do to get the film released earlier, it was destined to be released with that title card after he became the chief minister,” he said.

The actor’s title card in the film’s credits reportedly introduces him as Chief Minister Vijay.

The manufacturer also explained in detail the complexities encountered in the certification process. He said that although the screening committee had initially given the film U/A 16+ clearance, the film was later sent to the vetting committee after a complaint by a member.

He said, “With regard to the censor board hurdle, I don’t want to go into specifics. Whatever has happened since January (when the film was originally scheduled for release), all I know is that we needed to apply for the censor and get the certificate. The screening committee looked at it and approved with U/A 16+, but later we got an e-mail saying that the member who had given the consent earlier has now complained.”

“So, it will have to go to a vetting committee, and we did not approach the court initially. After that, we decided to go to the vetting committee and get it cleared. The vetting committee has also seen the film and hence, we are waiting for the approval to release the film as soon as possible,” he said, adding that people were very excited to see the film on the big screen.
