Jeff Bezos wants to sell his prized possession ‘Kaoru’, a 417-foot superyacht that features a wooden sculpture of Lauren Sanchez as a mermaid.
Jeff Bezos is quietly putting his $500 million superyacht, Koru, one of the world’s largest sailing yachts, up for sale because it’s too big, Page Six reports. The superyacht also features a wooden statue modeled after his then-girlfriend and now-wife Lauren Sanchez. The superyacht has a $75 million support ship, Abeona, although the report could not confirm whether Abeona is also part of the deal. Operating the two ships together costs $30 million per year.Koru means loop or coil in Maori, and is based on the spiral shape of a raised silver fern frond, in the form of a necklace – a symbol that is special to the couple As Bezos previously quoted on his Instagram that koru symbolizes new beginnings.Kaoru, a 417-foot ship, is the second in size in the world, as David Geffen’s Rising Sun is slightly larger at 453 feet. In 2025, Kaoru was refused anchorage in Monaco due to her enormous size. The ferry didn’t even come close to the lagoon where Bezos and Sanchez were married in Venice. During the festivities the couple hosted a separate foam party on the yacht.
Bezos’s yacht made in Netherlands is known for problems
In 2022, when Kaoru was to be delivered to Bezos, there were plans to demolish the 95-year-old bridge called De Heff so that the giant ship could pass. The pillars were removed after protests by local people. In 2023, The New York Times reported that Kaoru was too large to dock in the Florida Everglades, instead moving around to much less glamorous oil tankers and container ships. The superyacht has three tall masts, several decks, one of which even has a pool. However, Kaoru has been a part of the couple’s world tour as they traveled around the world on Kaoru and partied with celebrity friends like Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Katy Perry, Usher and others.
