Joe Jonas releases a teaser for his upcoming album
After going through a messy and public divorce, the DNCE member has held back the emotions he wanted to express. On Wednesday, July 10, Joe, 34, appeared on the Therapy with Jake Shane podcast, where he opened up about his upcoming album.
“I asked my brothers for their blessing. I was like, ‘Hey, I’m going to do — I don’t want to call it solo — but I’m going to do something on my own. And I don’t feel like it’s (my former band) DNCE. I just need to express some things for myself,'” he said.
Joe immediately got the blessing of his brothers, whose existing personal commitments gave him the time he needed to be creative. Nick signed up for another movie, while Kevin booked another season of Claim to Fame. “So I had a window of time,” he said.
The Jonas Brothers went on a hiatus in 2010 but reunited two years later to release a record album. Before their tour in 2013, the band announced its disbandment. Joe continued to make music with DNCE’s Jack Lawless, JinJoo Lee, and Cole Whittle.
That was until the brothers reunited in 2019 with their sixth studio album, Happiness Begins.
Joe Jonas to release his first album after split from Sophie Turner
Joe’s solo album announcement comes amid ongoing divorce proceedings with Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner. In September 2023, the couple filed for divorce, stating that their marriage has “irretrievably broken down.”
The former couple, who share two daughters Willa (3 years) and Delphine (23 months), announced their split in a joint statement on Instagram. “After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” the statement read.
Speaking about his album, the father of two revealed that it touches on a variety of topics including fatherhood, love and self-love. “This music, it’s everywhere,” he said. Joe also said that he had to pull himself out of certain emotions. “You’re the only person who’s going to fix it for yourself. Nobody’s going to save you,” he added.
Joe recently teased his upcoming untitled track in a TikTok video, in which he referenced his infamous split with Turner.
