A Chennai man recently caught Blinkit’s attention with a unique complaint on X (formerly Twitter). X user Narayanan Hariharan (@narayananh) shared a post pointing out that the app does not carry what he considers to be the “most popular idli and dosa batter brand” in the city. Tagging the company as well as its CEO Albinder Dhindsa, the user asked, “Why are you forcing me to give my money to your competitor?” The post was shared on July 5, 2024. The CEO responded on X the same day, saying, “Checking into it – will let you know once it goes live.” The online conversation caught the attention of many and generated a lot of interest.

A few days later, on July 11, Albinder posted an update on the thread. He took the person’s response and made the batter brand available on Blinkit. Posting a screenshot from the app, he wrote, “Thayar batter is now serviceable by Blinkit in your area and in most parts of Chennai. Thanks for flagging this.” The user was delighted and replied, “This is awesome! Thank you so much, Albinder!”

Later, in a separate post, user X celebrated the outcome of the conversation. Thanking the CEO again, she added, “If you need something, just ask.”

Earlier, Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa took note of complaints about not getting free dhaniya (coriander leaves) with purchases on the app – as is sometimes the case in physical markets. An X user said his mother “had a heart attack” because she had to pay for saag and suggested it be bundled with a certain amount of vegetables for free. The CEO said the feature will be further improved in the coming weeks. Read the full story here.
