Samsung unveiled the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 earlier this week. However, both phones will be available only on April 9, which is Thursday next week. You can pre-order the A57 (8/128GB) for $550 or the A37 (6/128GB) for $450. But while we wait, let’s see what else is available.

You can buy last year’s model, the Galaxy A56, for $165 less than the A57. You’ll be missing out on the newer, thinner build (the A56 is 7.4mm, 198g vs 6.9mm, 179g for the A57), the newer chipset (Exynos 1580 vs 1680) and the upgraded water resistance rating (the new model is rated IP68). Other than that, there isn’t much difference, but the A56 may not be your best choice anyway.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE should probably be your favorite – the 8/128GB model costs $50 less than the A57’s starting price. With the FE, you’ll get the same 6.7″ diagonal and 1080p+ resolution LTPO display (1-120Hz). It also has a flagship-class chipset, the Exynos 2400, and a dedicated telephoto camera (8MP 3x/75mm).
Plus, wireless charging for the 4,900mAh battery on top of 45W wired charging (vs. 5,000mAh battery and 45W wired-only charging for the A57). The Galaxy A57 and S25 FE are in different categories and the comparison is not in favor of the A-phone.

When it rains, it pours. The OnePlus 15R has been on hold for weeks, but its price has dropped by $50. That’s not much, but it means the 12/256GB model costs $650. The 15R has a 6.83″ 1272p+ 165Hz display – it’s not an LTPO panel, but it does have Dolby Vision. Unlike last year’s 13R, it doesn’t have a telephoto lens, but it has a larger 7,400mAh battery with 80W charging. And a recent flagship-class chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, to boot.

The flagship OnePlus 15 is also on sale with no change in prices as of now. It has a 6.78″ 1272p+ LTPO display (1-165Hz) and the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. There’s also a telephoto camera, a 50MP 3.5x/80mm unit. The battery is 7,300mAh with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The Google Pixel 10 also encroaches on Galaxy A57 territory. It’s a smaller phone with a 6.3″ display (1080p+, 120Hz), but its battery is the same size (4,970mAh) and offers both 30W wired and 15W wireless charging. We haven’t tested the Exynos 1680 yet, but the Tensor G5 should be the leader in performance. And this phone has a 10.8MP 5x/112mm periscope, which goes even further. In terms of focal length the S25 FE (of course, the A57 has no tele camera).

The Google Pixel 10 Pro is more expensive, but it offers a more premium experience with a sharper 6.3″ LTPO display (1280p+, 120Hz). Importantly, the Pro has a more capable 48MP 5x/113mm periscope, 48MP ultra-wide (vs. 12MP on the A57 and S25 FE) and a 42MP selfie camera (vs. 12MP).

As for the cheaper 6.3″ alternative, there’s last year’s Pixel 9a. It has the older Tensor G4 chipset, which is also used for the 10a. The phone has both wired (23W) and wireless (7.5W) charging for its 5,100mAh battery. There’s a 48MP main, 13MP ultra-wide, and 13MP selfie camera on board.

All three pixels above are smaller than the Galaxy A57. For the larger model, there’s always the Pixel 10 Pro XL with a 6.8″ display (1344p+, 120Hz LTPO) and 5,200mAh battery (45W wired, 25W wireless). It has the same camera setup as the 10 Pro. However, the Pro models are flagships and cost the same, so they’re not direct competitors to the Galaxy A57.

It’s not just the A57 that finds itself in an awkward position – the new Nothing Phone (4a) Pro is also competing against older, more premium models. Right now, the price of the phone starts at $500. Its 6.83″ 1260p+ 144Hz display, Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset and 5,080mAh battery (50W wired-only charging) make it an interesting alternative to the Galaxy A57. (4a) The Pro is equipped with a 50MP 3.5x/80mm telephoto module, which also helps it stand out from the S25 FE.

But that’s not what we meant – the price of the 12/256GB model of last year’s Nothing Phone (3) has dropped to $600. A 12/256GB (4a) Pro also costs $600. Like we said, weird. The older flagship is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. It has a small 6.67″ 1260p+ 120Hz display and a 5,150mAh battery with 65W wired and 15W wireless charging. The 50MP main camera has a large 1/1.3″ sensor and is joined by a 50MP 3x telephoto and a 50MP ultra-wide camera.

Okay, let’s put the A57 aside and wrap up the other offers from Amazon’s Big Spring Sale. The price of the 16/512GB model of the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 has dropped to $800. The Flip foldable features a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, 50MP main + 50MP ultra-wide dual cameras, and a 4,700mAh battery with 68W/30W charging. By the way, the Razer Fold is still MIA.

Finally, Amazon has refurbished the iPhone 13 and 14 (from 2021 and 2022) in the “Renewed Premium” category. These are from before the switch to USB-C and still have the notches. Both are powered by the A15 chipset, which is quite fast even by today’s standards. And they have MagSafe support if you don’t want to bother with Lightning cables. They’re old, but Apple’s excellent software support makes them viable even in 2026, and they only cost around $300.
