Varun Tej Konidela recently announced his new film in lead role titled Bhari. The upcoming film was initially called VT16, with his sister Niharika Konidela coming on board as producer.

The makers shared pictures from the puja ceremony of the film on their official social media handles. Sharing the update, the team wrote, “A spectacular start to the high-voltage drama! The arena is blessed, and the game officially begins.”

Although not many details have been revealed about the film, the makers have unveiled an animated promo. The glimpse shows Varun as a young man in a village setting, with the film revolving around the game of volleyball.

Directed by Yadu Vamsi, the film is expected to have a pan-India release, with Anudeep Dev handling the music and background score. Danush Bhaskar is in charge of the cinematography, while the film is edited by Anwar Ali.

Varun Tej Konidela’s work front

Varun Tej Konidela Earlier, he played the lead role in the film Matka. Directed by Karuna Kumar, the period action drama is set in Visakhapatnam between 1934 and 1988 and is based on real-life events.

The film is based on the life of a young man named Vasu, who is lured into the matka gambling business and gets entangled in a complex world of crime, deceit and betrayal. Vasu eventually becomes a gangster but is betrayed by his close associates. How he regains his lost position and kills his enemies forms the crux of the story.

Apart from Varun, Meenakshi Choudhary, Nora Fatehi, Naveen Chandra, Saloni Aswani and Jisshu Sengupta also play important roles in the film. The film was panned by critics and was a box office failure.

Looking ahead, Varun will next be seen in the lead role in the Korean Kanakaraju. Directed by Merlapaka Gandhi, the cross-cultural Indo-Korean horror comedy is scheduled to release this summer. Apart from Varun, the film also stars Ritika Nayak and Satya in lead roles.
