As volatile weather and rain continues to affect parts of the UAE, authorities have issued a clear warning to motorists and residents, urging caution near flood-prone areas and outlining tough penalties for behavior that could endanger lives. UAE authorities have cautioned the public against going near valleys, dams and flood channels during heavy rains, stressing that such areas can quickly become dangerous. The Interior Ministry warned that gathering near these locations is a violation punishable by a fine of Dh1,000 and six traffic black points. The advisory is part of broader efforts to prevent accidents and ensure public safety during adverse weather conditions. The ministry also highlighted strict penalties for entering valleys during active water flows, noting that no matter how safe the conditions are, it is a serious offence. Violators face a Dh2,000 fine, 23 black points and 60-day vehicle impoundment. Officials stressed that shallow or slow-moving water can also pose serious risks and drivers are expected to avoid such areas altogether. Officials also warned against disrupting emergency response teams during severe weather. Anyone caught obstructing police, ambulance or rescue operations faces a Dh1,000 fine, four black points and vehicle impoundment for 60 days, underscoring the importance of keeping routes clear during emergencies. Separately, Abu Dhabi Police urged motorists to exercise caution before and during travel in unstable weather. Drivers are advised to check the weather forecast before setting out, avoid waterlogged roads and stay away from flood water. The officials also stressed the need to follow all safety instructions issued by the concerned agencies. The Traffic and Patrol Directorate reinforced safe driving practices, urging motorists to reduce speed, maintain safe distance between vehicles and avoid distractions such as making videos or using mobile phones while driving. Police highlighted that such distractions increase the risk of accidents, especially in bad weather conditions. Motorists are also reminded to strictly adhere to posted speed limits and electronic road signs, with officials emphasizing that compliance is essential to ensure the safety of all road users during rainy and unstable weather.
