Revive Nandi Awards: Chiranjeevi appeals to Andhra Pradesh government

While receiving Telangana’s NTR National Film Award, Chiranjeevi called on Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu to restore the tradition of film awards in his state. This award show took place on March 19.

Chiranjeevi urged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to revive the Nandi Awards to support the film industry.

Megastar Chiranjeevi, while receiving the NTR National Film Award in Hyderabad on Thursday, requested the Andhra Pradesh government to revive the Nandi Awards (state awards). The presentation of Telangana Traitor Award 2025 took place in Hyderabad in the presence of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

Speaking on the occasion, Chiranjeevi appreciated and thanked Revanth Reddy for his continuous efforts in promoting Hyderabad as the hub of international cinema. He then appealed to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to resume the practice of Nandi Awards.

Chiranjeevi said that Naidu has close ties with the film industry and suggested that reinstating the awards would benefit the sector.

During the event, veteran actor Kamal Haasan was honored with the Paidi Jayaraj Film Award for Indian Film Personality. The Telangana government announced these special awards as part of the celebrations.

Veteran actress Jayasudha received the Akkineni Nageswara Rao Film Award for Female Artists. The BN Reddy Film Award for Telugu Film Director, announced for Singeetham Srinivas Rao, was awarded to Kamal Haasan, as Rao was unable to attend.

In the individual awards category for artistes and technicians, Akkineni Naga Chaitanya won the Best Leading Actor award for his role. ThandelWhile Rashmika Mandanna received the Best Leading Actress award lover.

On 6 March, the Telangana government announced the 2025 Gaddaar Film Awards in a press conference led by Telangana Film Corporation Chairman Dil Raju. Traitor Award was started by the Government of Telangana in 2025.

They replaced the Nandi Awards previously held in unified Andhra Pradesh.

The March 19 event was attended by many celebrities including Chiranjeevi, Kamal Haasan, Naga Chaitanya, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna and many others. Shreya Ghoshal, Devi Sri Prasad and other singers performed in it.
