Iran sleeper cells: out Activate sleeper cells: What encrypted alerts US says it intercepted from Iran

The US has reportedly intercepted encrypted communications believed to have originated from Iran and intended for secret recipients, ABC News reports. According to a federal government alert sent to law enforcement agencies, the message calls for activating sleeper cells outside the country. The alert cited preliminary signal analysis of the possibility of transmission of Iranian origin, which was broadcast to several countries. The alert arose shortly after the death of former Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei on February 28. The message was transmitted without the use of the Internet or cellular networks. This was for those who have the encryption key. ABC News reported, “The intercepted transmission was encoded and appears to have been intended for ‘secret recipients’ who have the encryption key; such messages were intended to instruct ‘covert operatives or sleeper assets’ without the use of the Internet or cellular networks.” The federal government alert said it was possible that the broadcasts may be intended to activate or provide instructions to predetermined sleeper assets operating outside the country of origin.“Although the exact content of these broadcasts cannot be determined at present, the sudden appearance of a new station with international rebroadcast characteristics heightens situational awareness,” the alert said. The government alert said there was no operational threat associated with any specific location, but it directed law enforcement agencies to increase surveillance of suspicious radio-frequency activity. At least two major terrorist attacks took place in America after Khamenei’s ouster. A day after the war began, Ndiaga Diagne, 53, of Senegal, opened fire in a packed Austin bar, killing three people and wounding 14 others. Investigators are looking into whether Diagne was inspired by the war in Iran because the suspect was wearing a shirt with an Iranian flag design under a hoodie with “Property of Allah” printed on it.Suspicious devices were burned Saturday during a protest outside Gracie Mansion, the official residence of NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Two men, Amir Balat and Ibrahim Qayoumi, were charged with attempting to support ISIS.Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said the Iran war is going to end “soon” without giving any specific timeline. He also warned Tehran that if it tried to do “anything beautiful”, the US would destroy the country. “It’s going to end soon, and if it starts again they’re going to be hit even harder,” Trump said at a news conference in Florida.Earlier, during a CBS interview he had said that the war was “too total” and warned Iran against doing “anything too nice”.“They’ve shot everything they had to shoot, and they better not try to do anything pretty or that’s the end of that country,” the US president said during a CBS interview. He said, “If they do anything bad, it will be the end of Iran and you will never hear its name again.”
