“Today we are revising our creator revenue sharing policies to maintain the authenticity of content on Timeline and prevent program manipulation,” Nikita Bear wrote in a post.

The announcement comes in the backdrop of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East following the US-Israeli attacks on Iran, which flooded social media platforms with fake and misleading AI-generated images and videos.

Nikita Bear said, “In times of war, it is vital that people have access to authentic information on the ground. With today’s AI technologies, it is a trivial matter to create content that could mislead people.”

Under the updated policy, users who post AI-generated videos depicting armed conflict without clearly disclosing that the content was created using AI will be suspended from the Creator Revenue Sharing Program for 90 days. Repeated violations will result in permanent removal from the scheme.

How will police AI content be

According to Nikita Bear, enforcement will rely on community notes attached to posts, as well as metadata and other indicators that the content was generated using generative AI tools. He said the company will continue to update its policies and product features to ensure the platform remains reliable during critical events.

On In response, Nikita Bear said that users must add the “Made with AI” label by selecting “Add content disclosure” from the post menu.

The move is part of a broader crackdown by X as the platform grapples with a rise in AI-generated misinformation. In recent weeks, social media has been flooded with deepfake content generated by advanced AI tools that make fake clips look extremely realistic. Independent fact-checkers have debunked several posts claiming to show current conflict scenes as having in fact been altered or fabricated.
