Did Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay unfollow him on Instagram amid the divorce case?
It was rumored that Jason Sanjay has unfollowed his father Vijay on Instagram. Last week, Sangeeta filed for divorce from Vijay and sought court intervention to end their 27-year-old marriage.
Actor-politician Vijay and Sangeetha Sornalingam’s son Jason Sanjay is in the news after reports surfaced that he has unfollowed his father on Instagram. On February 27, Sangeeta’s divorce petition surfaced on social media in which she has requested the court to end their 27-year marriage. In the petition filed in Chengalpattu District Court, she cited infidelity, mental cruelty, neglect and abandonment as the reasons behind seeking divorce.

Shortly after the news of the divorce petition broke, fans noticed that their son, Jason Sanjay, was not following Vijay on Instagram. Many fans shared screenshots that showed Jason was following actor Vijay Sethupathi and 35 other accounts, but not his father.
A social media comment read, “Decent young man, Jason Sanjay, proud son of Sangeeta madam (sic).”
However, many others claimed that Jason had not previously followed Vijay or his political party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) on Instagram. As soon as the news of divorce came out, a section of fans spread this rumor which went viral among the fans and it was seen as a development from their side.
Meanwhile, Jason Sanjay is busy with his first directorial project titled sigmaStarring Sandeep Kishan.
In her petition, Sangeeta accused Vijay of having an extramarital affair with an actress and described her experience in the marriage as “persistent mental cruelty, neglect and abandonment”. He requested that the entire court proceedings be conducted on camera to save the family additional stress.
Sangeeta’s petition claimed that the marriage has broken down “irreparably” and she fears that the public discussion could lead to “further humiliation and mental anguish”. She also mentioned that Vijay had “emotionally withdrawn” from 2021 and that he had “verbally abused” her.
She claimed that Vijay had “constructively abandoned her, forcing her to live separately in the marital home” while maintaining an “open relationship” with the actress. Sangeeta said that her children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Sasha, faced “embarrassment” among friends as a result of the situation.
The petition revealed that Sangeeta had exchanged notices and correspondence with Vijay between August 2024 and February 2025 in the hope of resolving their issues.
Vijay and Sangeeta married in the United Kingdom in 1998 and had a second ceremony in India in 1999.
