The business of ‘O’ Romeo’ once again declined on the second Friday and the collection went down to Rs. 2 crore nett. The decline from Thursday was 25-30 percent. Nowadays films have a slow run on Fridays, especially films from big centres. However, since O’Romeo’s had a partial holiday on Thursday and the BOGO offer was in effect on weekdays, it led to an increase in business. In such a situation, a considerable decline was expected, but it could have softened by about 10-15 percent. Whatever is in it is a bit much.
There was competition from two new releases, Do Deewane Sehar Mein and Assi Se, but neither of them got the opening and O’Romeo remained the highest performing film. The total for eight days was Rs. Approximately Rs 44 crore nett. It is expected to collect Rs. crore in the second weekend. 8 crore nett, making it around Rs. 50 crores till Sunday. The film is a flop, but since there won’t be much to do at the box office until Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Toxic are released, it will probably reach the Rs. 60 crores nett.
After the trend the film showed on the first weekend, it seemed that the film would reach Rs 100 crore. 50 crore nett will be a tough task, if not completely impossible. However, with the support of the BOGO offer and some outside pressure, the film will now manage to get there. Not that it changes anything for the overall picture. At face value this is an expensive film, costing Rs. Much more was required. 50 crores, at least double. Sudden, surprise stops on Monday and Tuesday looked like it might get close to that, but Wednesday’s decline removed that possibility, and since then, it has only gone down.
The box office collections of O’ Romeo in India are as follows:
