Elon Musk calls Anthropic Cloud AI evil and misanthropic, says it hates men
If something doesn’t go Elon Musk’s way, he rarely holds back from highlighting it, or attacking him with words on social media. And at the moment, Anthropic seems to be one of their Achilles’ heel. In a recent post reacting to the company’s new funding round, Musk apparently called it “woke” and accused its AI of hating men and certain demographic groups.
There are some sore points for Elon Musk at the moment, and one of them is anthropogenic. The XAI CEO has been taking digs at the AI rival over its ideology and “constitution,” repeatedly calling it “woke.” And the tension between the two is increasing. This time, Musk slammed Anthropic’s cloud chatbot as “misanthropic and evil”, accusing it of demographic bias. The latest comments from the Tesla and XAI boss come shortly after Anthropic announced it had raised $380 billion in fresh funding at a post-money valuation of $30 billion.
Responding directly to Anthropic’s celebratory post about the funding round, Musk wrote that the company is woke, biased, and misogynistic, attacking its Greek-derived name, which relates to humanity, and suggesting it has become anti-human.
He wrote, “Your AI hates whites and Asians, especially Chinese, heterosexuals and men. It’s misanthropic and evil. Fix it.” “Frankly, I don’t think there’s anything you can do to avoid the inevitable irony of anthropic becoming misanthropic. You were doomed to this fate when you chose your name.”
Notably, Musk’s rivalry with Anthropic isn’t just about Grok versus cloud. In fact, XAI bosses have been openly critical of Anthropic for quite some time and for a variety of reasons. Earlier this year, Anthropic cut off XAI’s access to its cloud models through coding platform Cursor, saying its technology was being used to bolster a direct competitor. The move reportedly follows an internal review of usage patterns and enforcement of terms that prevent customers from using the cloud to develop competing AI systems.
And, of course, the ban didn’t sit well with Musk. He publicly criticized this decision and said that it was not good for his deeds. “Not exactly on programming, but it will excel in other areas. Anthropic did something special with coding. It was a helpful motivator that they cut us off from @xAI and that’s not good for their karma,” he posted on XAI.
At the core of the dispute between Musk and Anthropic appears to be a philosophical clash over how AI systems should be built and operated. Anthropic follows what it calls a “constitutional AI” approach, which uses a set of guiding principles designed to align models with human values and safety standards. As the company has previously explained, Cloud’s constitution serves as a foundational document that outlines the values it wants to embrace and how it wants to remain safe, ethical, and supportive while also being consistent with its guidelines.
However, Musk has repeatedly criticized Entheorpic’s approach and called the company a “woke mind virus” in AI, arguing that strong security layers could lead to politically correct filtering, omissions, or distorted outputs. “Unfortunately, any AI company is destined to become the opposite of its name, so anthropic, ironically, misanthropic,” Musk previously wrote, responding to a post about the cloud’s constitution by one of its senior executives.
Meanwhile, Musk has positioned Grok as a “maximum truth-seeking” option, saying that some of XAI’s competitors prioritize ideological alignment over unfiltered responses.
