Did Anurag Kashyap’s name surface in the Epstein files? the director answers
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has responded to claims of his alleged mention in the Epstein files, saying he has never been to Beijing and dismissing the credibility of the documents.

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has strongly denied allegations of linking himself to the Jeffrey Epstein files after his name surfaced in allegedly unverified documents circulated online. The director dismissed the claims as baseless, stating that he has never been to “Beijing”, the location mentioned in the alleged context.
The controversy stems from documents linked to Epstein, which allegedly mention a “Bollywood man” and a “famous Bollywood director” allegedly being linked to an event in Beijing in 2017. Responding to the speculation, Kashyap directly addressed the matter in a statement HT City.
“I have no knowledge of it. I get invitations as a speaker – about 15 per month. I rarely respond. Besides, I have never been to Beijing in my life,” Kashyap said, categorically denying any involvement or connection with the claims.
Questioning the credibility of the documents, the filmmaker further suggested that the allegations were being inflated through sensationalist headlines. He said, “It’s some random email, it’s self-explanatory. Clickbaits in my name are more popular than my movies.”
The Epstein files have attracted global attention in recent weeks, with several high-profile names being cited in connection with the late financier and convicted sex offender. The release of the documents, photographs and emails – many of which are unverified – has prompted several public figures, including tech billionaire Bill Gates, to issue clarifications.
Kashyap, whose films have been screened at international festivals and who frequently travels for work, has found himself at the center of media scrutiny since the rumors spread. However, his response seems to be aimed at putting a full stop to the speculation.
