James Cameron’s latest film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, is doing well at the box office. The science-fiction Hollywood film entered its fourth week today, earning Rs. Tally 1.25 crores. The total gross of Avatar 3 was Rs. Out of which Rs 212.50 crore. It had earned Rs 128.50 crore in the initial week itself.
The film is expected to see some growth on Saturday and Sunday and will make around Rs. 6.50 crore, which will take its box office earnings close to Rs. Figure of 220 crores. Based on the current trends, the film is now in its final stages. It is on track to end its theatrical run soon.
Generally Hollywood films perform best in South Indian states. Since there are half a dozen new releases coming this Pongal/Sankranti week, Avatar 3 won’t be able to hold many screens. The entire business of Avatar: Fire and Ash is likely to close around Rs. 225 crore to Rs. 230 crore figure, which is not a bad figure but definitely not satisfactory for the Avatar franchise.
For the record, Avatar: The Way of Water was a huge hit in India, grossing over Rs. Rs 465 crore during his entire tenure. It is still the highest-grossing Hollywood film at the Indian box office. By comparison, the latest installment will end on a much lower note. Nevertheless, Avatar: Fire and Ash has already emerged as a clean hit venture in India.
